Taekwondo 태권도
Taekwondo is martial arts is the art of self defense that originated in Korea. Taekwondo training generally includes a system of blocks, kicks, punches, and open-handed strikes and may also include various take-downs or sweeps, throws, and joint locks. It focuses mostly on striking and the kicking. It is an effective weaponless art of self-defense but it is also a competitive sport and method of maintaining all round fitness. Ranks in Taekwondo are typically separated into junior and senior, instructor and master. Taekwondo forms disciplines your body to control your breathing by exhaling on the execution of methods and inhaling in between. There are also many competitions are regularly organized at the regional, national and international level according to the athlete’s age and skill level. Taekwondo is also used by the South Korean military as part of its training.
Master Vincent Au Yang
7th Dan (Degree in Black Belt) in Kukkiwon and World Taekwondo Chang Mookwan and was trained in the Hong Kong Police Call Dojang. He has been an instructor for many years in Hong Kong and now is coaching in Edmonton. He coached and trained students in Edmonton for more than 30 years, leading the team to join in many diverse competitions locally, nationally and internationally. Master Au Yang has also lead many students to demonstrate Taekwondo in many cultural events such as the Edmonton Heritage Festival.
